Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

And both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club board as they start the process of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock choice considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
