Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have found plenty of engaging indie games. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a hero that is truly a dung attempting to make its way to a commode. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a single jump button. Across numerous stages, you'll face tough enemies and unlock a store to buy customizations for your poop character.

Plan your movements precisely, since one error forces beginning again. Jump on floating orbs to launch yourself higher, navigate crumbling ledges, and interact with triggers to reveal hidden paths. Earn currency for buying tougher stages as things ramps up.

Visually, the demo features vibrant environments and a killer background music. The simple graphics of moving geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to think of other games where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often included toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from character excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, such content appears heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly idea, Unko Technica has already received significant awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. The demo is accessible at present on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on Steam on November 19.
